Our Primary Focus: Eastern Screech-Owl
The Eastern Screech-Owl (Megascops asio) is the primary beneficiary of our nest box program. These small, adaptable owls readily accept man-made nest cavities and thrive in suburban and rural environments.
Standing only 6-10 inches tall, screech-owls are cavity nesters that have lost much of their natural nesting habitat as old trees are removed from the landscape. Our nest boxes provide a safe alternative.
Screech-owls are beneficial neighbors, helping control populations of mice, voles, and large insects around homes and gardens.
